Born and raised in Chicago, Janise was surrounded and deeply influenced by the culture of the city. After high school, she moved to Los Angeles to study fine arts. However, it was a costume design class that changed the direction of her study.
While attending the University of California, Los Angeles’s Theater Film and Television program, she designed costumes for live performances, short films and photo shoots. She also assisted as a wardrobe intern for the late night show host Conan O'Brien.
Her academic experience at UCLA has provided her with a versatile skill set of designing, illustrating, constructing, textile painting, dyeing and ageing costumes.
Janise currently holds a BA in Theater from the University of California at Los Angeles and is an associate at Palace Costumes & Props House. She continues to pursue her career as a freelance costume designer, wardrobe stylist and production assistant!
